Wizkid Impregnates Undergraduate, Gets Baby Girl

EME Popstar Wizkid has fathered his first child at 21, Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) can confirm.

The beloved hit-maker and ladies man has been linked to many women – most times older than he is – and pundits had feared he could be heading the way of misdemeanour if care was not taken.
Now, as our investigations reveal, the young man impregnated an undergraduate named Sola several months ago, and the lady has since put to bed. Before delivering a baby girl for Wizkid two months ago, we’re told Sola who resides in Magodo, Lagos was studying in the University of Legon, Accra, Ghana.
This is not something his close friends and associates would want to reveal for now. And we’re told his parents and mentors insist they’ll wait until a DNA confirmation, before fully admitting the child is Wizkid’s.

At least two colleagues confirm to us, that the debutant allegedly fathered a child in June. Multiple sources who are familiar with the ‘baby mama’ and her family also tell us ‘it was widely known to us all when they were dating. And we knew when she got pregnant for him’.
Wizkid has been rumoured to date daring actress Tonto Dike even though they both continue to deny this. We confirmed from reliable sources back then, that Wizkid’s Honda Accord that was jacked by robbers, was a gift from Dike.

In an elaborate chat with a Nigerian Entertainment Today editor, Wizkid denies having a child. ‘No, I don’t. It’s just a rumour, I’m not thinking about that right now’.
In the interview held last week at Ogudu-GRA, in Lagos and published in this week’s edition of Nigerian Entertainment Today Newspaper, he continues, ‘ I really don’t want to find myself in that kind of situation, I’m all about my music now‘.

But our sources, who want to remain anonymous, insist Wizkid has fathered his first child..
Will Wizkid, whose real names are Ayo Balogun, follow in the footsteps of 2face Idibia (five kids from three women), JJC (three kids from three women), 9ice (three kids from two women, one of whom is still legally married to him), and the likes of Father U Turn, KWAM 1, KSA, and many other musicians who have children from multiple relationships? Or will he settle with his baby’s mother and make a home?

Interestingly, Wizkid’s leader Banky W, himself a bonafide ladies’ man and fun-lover, remains scandal-free; managing to stay away from controversies and making sure he doesn’t toe the line of illegitimacy.

Last Friday, the singer tweeted from his official Twitter handle (@wizkidayo) ‘Hey All.. Got sumthin to tell yall. In life, there are those times when you wonder about the wrong decisions you’ve made… This is one of those times for me.  I realize that I haven’t always lived up to everyone’s expectations from my loved ones to the immense love from my fans. I am sorry.  Please continue to pray for me.  With the help of my family and my EME big brothers, I am working on becoming a better man, a better artiste, a more responsible person with every one of my actions.

Ladies Love Wizkid!

As for a 20-year-old young man who combines good looks with artistic prowess- music for that matter, not mentioning his urbane dress sense; who’s to blame him if the young and older women crave him? All the ladies are fighting to outsmart each other; just to have a sensual feel of the kid, no matter how brief. Wizkid is a ladies’ man!

Ayodeji Balogun, the EME talent is an inch away from super stardom.  His hits (Holla at your boy, Don’t dull, Tease me) are gradually bringing the young man fortune and fame; but not only that, ladies are expectedly falling head-over-heels for the yet-to-debut artiste. And with the release of the ‘Tease me‘ video Wizzy is now a fast becoming sex symbol. The young singer is in popular demand; they want him, his music, even more.

It would now seem, these days, that those sisters who can’t get Banky W‘s attention are happy to settle for Wizkid. ‘Of course, he’s serving them right. He even likes older, mature ladies. He’s a young boy having all the fun he can‘, insiders at the EME camp tell us. ‘But the label is making sure he doesn’t lose focus or get into trouble’.

As much as it may not be a bad idea positioning him as a sex symbol, one who has grown from boy to man, as seen in the recently-released ‘Tease me’ video; critics also think a full-blown sex image for a young, adventurous man might prove too difficult to handle; except his minders take lessons from bonafide symbols like D’Banj and 2face Idibia

Wizkid and Akon Duet On ‘Don’t Dull’ Remix

When the news on Nigerian pop singer Wizkid working with Senegalese American R&B recording artist and songwriter Akon surfaced a few months ago, Nigerians were excited for the lad who has had it going for the past one year – a successful debut album plus performing at mega shows and hey don’t forget the ‘Next Rated’ prize that got him a ‘Hyundai Sonata’ at The Headies last weekend.

Wizkid has given us another example to show how much Nigerian artistes and their music are recognized by their foreign counterparts – the buzz keeps getting bigger and with the signing of Don Jazzy, D’banj and the Mo’Hits crew to Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D Music label, we can now safely say the gap has been bridged.

If ‘Don’t Dull’ remix is to be a hit song, it would be because of the pedigree of the acts on it. The combination is what we are ecstatic about not the song in its real self. Akon follows Wizzy’s singing pattern as he fixes in his own lyrics.

Femi Kuti Grabs Third Grammy Award Nomination

Nigerian musician and respected Afrobeat singer Femi Kuti has been nominated at the 54th edition of the prestigious Grammy Awards.
Femi picked up his third ever nomination in the World Music Category for his ‘Africa for Africa‘ album last night Wednesday, November 30, 2011 when the list was unveiled at the ‘Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!‘ in Los Angeles, US.
In 2003, Femi, eldest son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti picked up his first ever Grammy Award nomination but lost out to  Panamanian salsa singer RubĂ©n Blades. He similarly lost in 2010  when he was nominated in the same category. US banjo player Bela Fleck walked away with the award.
His recent nomination sees him up against Latin/Roots music band AfroCubism, South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Malian band Tinariwen.
We’re extremely happy, and hoping they give him this time around‘ Femi’s elder sister and Positive band veteran Yeni Kuti told us this morning over the phone. ‘It’s his third time and he has really worked hard‘. Femi Kuti himself, currently touring Europe, is unreachable for now. ‘I can’t say if he’ll attend or not, but I hope he will. He did not attend last year‘ Yeni says.
US rapper Kanye West leads the pack with seven nods, making it the second year in row a Hip-hop artiste has reached that feat. (Eminem topped the nominees list in 2010, with 10nods. He walked away with two wins).
Kanye is closely followed by UK singer Adele who is tied with Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars with six nods each. But the controversial rapper-producer was, surprisingly missing on the biggest award category ‘Album of the Year’. Other notable acts that missed out on the big prize are Taylor Swift and veteran singer Tony Bennett.
The awards ceremony is billed to hold on February 12, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles
